Buffalo AKG Art Museum Celebrates Opening of Transformational Project

Buffalo AKG Art Museum Celebrates Opening of Transformational Project

Earlier this week, we were honored to join the Buffalo AKG Art Museum in celebrating the opening of its transformational campus expansion and development project!

Driven by goals to significantly expand its accessibility and enhance engagement with its local and global community, the renewed campus features a new gallery building, a transparent connecting bridge, and a series of extensive renovations to the existing buildings and landscape.

Designed by OMA and Cooper Robertson and implemented in collaboration with Gilbane, and Arc Building Partners, the program includes over 50,000 square feet of state-of-the-art exhibition space, a new education wing, and community gathering space.

In addition, a newly enclosed courtyard at the Knox Building features Common Sky, a site-specific art installation by Olafur Eliasson and Sebastian Behmann of  Studio Other Spaces. The signature artwork consists of a canopy of glass and mirrors that provides space that is fully open to the public and connects visitors with the historic Olmsted landscape.

Thank you to the Buffalo AKG Art Museum for entrusting us to support the strategic planning, approvals, and delivery of this incredible project! We were honored to have played a role in managing the overall project delivery, as well as overseeing the development of the Common Sky art installation.

Zubatkin Celebrates MuseumWeek 2023

As part of MuseumWeek, we wanted to take a moment to celebrate the incredible institutions across the East Coast with whom we’ve had the privilege of collaborating over the course of Zubatkin Owner Representation’s 29-year history. We put together a brief collection of images that highlights some of our work on museum expansions and renovations; exhibit development projects; educational programs and spaces; collections storage and conservation facilities; and other supporting spaces and infrastructure.

MuseumWeek 2023 marks the tenth year of the official international celebration of museums and cultural institutions. This year’s theme, Nature & Culture, takes a deeper look into the role museums play in today’s world – celebrating them as places of inclusivity, exploration, and dialogue. Whether the focus is on art, science, or both, a museum encourages the appreciation and preservation of the natural world. Learn more here.

Ronald McDonald House-NY Opens New Hospital Family Room

Ronald McDonald House-NY Opens New Hospital Family Room

Last week, we celebrated the opening of the newest Ronald McDonald Family Room at NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst! An integral part of Ronald McDonald House New York’s hospital outreach program, the family rooms provide caregivers and families with a flexible space for meals, resting, and other support services while their children are undergoing treatment for cancer and other serious illnesses.

This project is part of a larger program sponsored by RMH-NY that will renovate spaces to create family rooms at three additional hospitals across New York City by the end of 2023. Zubatkin is honored to be managing the delivery of this program and to be working with Fradkin & McAlpin Architects and Coyle Contracting Corporation in support of RMH-NY’s important mission. Manton Research Center Celebrates 50 Years

2023 marks the 50th anniversary of the Manton Research Center at the Clark Art Institute in Williamstown, Massachusetts!  The building supports an innovative program co-sponsored by Williams College and the Clark for graduate students advancing careers as academic and museum professionals. The Manton Research Center distinguishes the Clark as one of only a handful of institutions globally with a dual mission as an art museum and a center for research and higher education.

Zubatkin served as the owner’s representative for the planning and implementation of the Clark’s transformative master plan for its 140-acre campus.  The project included the renovation of the Manton Research Center with Selldorf Architects, Gensler and Consigli Construction in 2016.  Learn more.

Zubatkin Team Joins CM Partner Turner Construction in Construction Safety Week Stand-Down

Earlier this week, Turner Construction Company invited Zubatkin team members to take part in a Safety Stand-Down for programming focused on worksite safety at our shared jobsite at Jamestown’s One Times Square. The theme of this year’s Construction Safety Week “Strong Voices, Safe Choices” reminds us that safety is the number one priority, and empowers staff to recognize and act on any potential hazard putting the team in harm’s way. Earth Day Spotlight: The Farminary at Princeton Theological Seminary

Earth Day Spotlight: The Farminary at Princeton Theological Seminary

On Earth Day, we wanted to take a moment to spotlight the Farminary, an innovative educational program and model of environmental stewardship developed by our client Princeton Theological Seminary. The Farminary (farm + seminary) is a 21-acre farm that is part of the Seminary campus where theological education is integrated with small-scale regenerative agriculture to train faith leaders who are conversant in the fields of ecology, sustainability, and food justice.

Zubatkin serves as an advisor to Princeton Theological Seminary on a variety of foundational planning initiatives. Collaborating with Regenerative Design Group, we supported the development of an Agricultural Master Plan and sustainability assessment framework that celebrate the Farminary as a land-based theological learning community invested in agriculture, thoughtful land stewardship, and the formation of all who participate in its programming. Zubatkin Celebrates Jackie Robinson Day

Zubatkin Celebrates Jackie Robinson Day

Jackie Robinson was a pioneer – as a family man, soldier, entrepreneur, and trailblazing athlete who fought for racial, social, and economic equality. In celebration of Jackie Robinson Day on April 15th, consider a visit to the eponymous museum that tells the story of his life and character. Designed to educate current and future generations on his activism and impact, this important project also looks back on the civil rights movement and inspires the exploration and discussion of today’s issues.

The space, which opened in September 2022, features artifacts, interactive exhibits, and media highlighting Robinson’s path from baseball champion to champion of equal rights. Zubatkin is honored to have worked alongside the Jackie Robinson Foundation in the planning, design, and construction of the museum honoring his legacy. Learn more about visiting the museum and Zubatkin’s role on the project.
