Zubatkin Celebrates the Opening of Browning’s New Upper School Facility

Zubatkin Celebrates the Opening of Browning’s New Upper School Facility

Our team was thrilled to join The Browning School in the ribbon cutting of their new Upper School facility! The project supports 18 high school classrooms and labs, a regulation-sized gymnasium, library, and cafeteria, as well as arts and community spaces. The construction involved the adaptive re-use of a former parking garage, which required a unique rethinking of the space to accommodate Browning’s program. When officially in full operation this September, the building will serve as a permanent home for the Upper School, while the spaces at the original 62nd Street building will be repurposed for younger students.

The Zubatkin team oversaw the design, procurement, and construction planning, as well as advised on the neighbor, approvals, and community relations strategies for the project. Congratulations to the Browning community, S9 Architecture, JRM Construction Services, and the full consultant team on this incredible milestone!

The New York Historical Celebrates Topping Out

The New York Historical Celebrates Topping Out

We were delighted to take part in The New York Historical’s recent topping off ceremony, marking the placement of the last steel beam and commemorating the completion of the building’s structure. Known as New York’s first museum, the institution features exhibitions, public programming, and a research library that explore the history of New York and the nation.

Zubatkin has been working with The New York Historical (formerly New-York Historical Society) in the renovation and expansion of its Landmarked campus. The new four-story Tang Wing for American Democracy will include new gallery, exhibition, and collections spaces, as well as house the American LGBTQ+ Museum. The project will also play a key role in expanding The New York Historical’s democracy education programs, which reach approximately 30,000 public school students each year.

We are very proud to be working alongside RAMSA and Turner Construction on this transformative project that will have a significant impact on the City’s cultural landscape!

Celebrating Women in Construction Week 2025: Together We Rise

Celebrating Women in Construction Week 2025: Together We Rise

In honor of this year’s Women in Construction Week, we’d like to take a moment to recognize the incredibly talented and capable women who are making meaningful contributions at all levels of our organization. At Zubatkin, we are especially proud of the fact that our team consists of over two-thirds women – a stat that is well above the construction industry average of 9%.

This year’s Women in Construction theme of “Together We Rise” challenges us to continually find new opportunities to elevate women in our industry and to celebrate their impact in shaping the future. Learn more about WIC Week here.

Zubatkin Team Tours Construction of The Browning School’s New Upper School Facility

As part of our ongoing professional development efforts for our team members, we recently visited the construction site for The Browning School’s new Upper School. While there, the team walked through the in-progress construction of the new facility, which is being repurposed to include space for 18 classrooms, a regulation-sized gymnasium, and areas for arts, community, and collaboration. Slated to open in September 2025, the project will allow Browning to grow its enrollment and better supports its educational programing for its Upper East Side campus.

Zubatkin has worked closely with Browning since the early phases of the project and is currently overseeing the construction.

Restoring St. Vartan Cathedral for the Future

See the remarkable restoration efforts taking place both inside and out at St. Vartan Cathedral. Over a year into the multi-phase project, the exterior has been rejuvenated and a new cross stands on the restored monumental golden dome. On the horizon is the interior restoration, including the planned construction of a new mechanical action pipe organ, a first of its kind in an Armenian church.

Studio Museum in Harlem Receives TCO and Announces Opening Date!

Studio Museum in Harlem Receives TCO and Announces Opening Date!

Last month, the Studio Museum in Harlem received its Temporary Certificate of Occupancy (TCO), a critical step that brings us closer to the planned opening of the Museum’s new facility in Fall 2025. This project has been more than ten years in the making and will amplify the voices of contemporary Black artists as part of Harlem’s incredible cultural landscape, as well as further advance the Museum’s mission on the global arts stage.

For our team at Zubatkin, this project embodies our dedication to supporting cultural institutions and community-based planning and construction projects. We’re humbled to be part of this landmark project, and we look forward to celebrating the opening next year alongside the Museum and project team Cooper Robertson, Adjaye Associates, and Sciame Construction. National Museum of Mathematics Plans Move to New Chelsea Location

National Museum of Mathematics Plans Move to New Chelsea Location

Doubling its footprint and making room for more classroom and hands-on exhibition space, The National Museum of Mathematics (MoMath) recently announced that it will move from its current temporary location to a new, 34,000 SF location in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan in 2026. The new space will allow the museum to feature its popular interactive exhibitions, as well as add areas for classrooms, early childhood education, and presentations.

Originally opened in 2012, MoMath is the first museum dedicated to mathematics in the United States, striving to enhance the public’s understanding and perception of mathematics, and highlighting the role of math in illuminating patterns and structures all around us. Zubatkin has been a trusted partner to MoMath since the institution’s founding. Working closely with the Museum’s leadership and exhibition teams, we supported the conceptualization and development of MoMath’s original space on Madison Square Park and are now overseeing the planning and construction of the temporary and new facilities. Inspiring Young Women to Explore Careers in Real Estate with CREW NY

Inspiring Young Women to Explore Careers in Real Estate with CREW NY

We wanted to recognize our very own Kasey Pace, Vice President at Zubatkin Owner Representation, for volunteering her time with CREW NY at Bronx International High School. The event was aimed at inspiring young women to explore career paths in real estate, introducing them to a variety of roles.

As a panelist and longtime supporter of CREW NY, Kasey brought valuable insights to the discussion. She shared her personal journey working in construction management and her transition to the role of owner’s representative, emphasizing the importance of interpersonal and leadership skills in supporting her career.

We look forward to seeing the impact the next generation of female leaders will have on the industry. Kudos to CREW NY and Bronx International High School for fostering these valuable conversations!

New-York Historical Society Prepares for the Future with New Name and New Wing

Congratulations to The New York Historical on this significant milestone in its 220-year history!  It has been a privilege to partner with New York Historical in the planning, design, and construction of a new Wing devoted to American democracy.

Designed by Robert A. M. Stern Architects, the Wing will be named after two major benefactors, H.M. Agnes Hsu-Tang and Oscar L. Tang in honor of their $20 million contribution. The project is also receiving significant public funding, including $57 million from the City of New York.

We cannot think of a better way to prepare for the project’s opening in 2026.  Read more in the New York Times.
