A lifelong design advocate, Julie has collaborated with many multi-disciplinary teams to successfully deliver visionary and technically complex construction projects on behalf of not-for-profit and private development clients. We’re excited to see her serving in this role on behalf of Zubatkin Owner Representation, A Cumming Group Company and look forward to working with the AIA’s New York Chapter / Center for Architecture to advance their goals for this iconic event for the design community.

Earlier this Summer, Managing Principal Jason Zubatkin was honored with the Rev. Ed Vischer Award at the Long Island Lutheran Middle & High School (LuHi)’s Open and Awards Dinner. This prestigious honor recognizes those who have made a significant impact on the LuHi community and have done meaningful work in support of children’s education.

Celebrating the School’s unique history and core values, LuHi hosted the annual event at the Brookville Country Club to raise funds for its programs and capital campaign, which includes the renovation of the main classroom building into a state-of-the art learning environment and STEM center.

We are proud of our longtime partnership with LuHi, and are excited for the upcoming grand opening of their newly renovated 31,000 SF Main Classroom Wing, which helps to fulfill the School’s goal of providing its students with inspired and thoughtfully designed learning spaces.

Last month, the United States Golf Association (USGA) unveiled Golf House Pinehurst to the public. The historic seven-acre campus in North Carolina features the visitor-friendly USGA Experience and World Golf Hall of Fame, along with a new Research and Test Center and sustainable gardens. Construction was successfully completed ahead of the 2024 U.S. Open Championship, which took place at the neighboring Pinehurst Resort and Country Club.

The project was part of a larger economic development initiative, with independent studies estimating that the USGA’s long-term presence in Pinehurst will generate over $2 billion in economic activity for the state of North Carolina.

Congratulations to the USGA and the entire team, including Clearscapes, Luci Creative, and Gilbane Building Company! The Pinehurst campus complements the USGA’s collection and official headquarters in Liberty Corner, New Jersey, which continues to operate and serves as the home of the USGA’s Golf Museum & Library. The Siegel Center at Sarah Lawrence College recently reached a significant milestone. President Cristle Collins Judd and members of our Zubatkin team opened the doors of our construction site for a behind-the-scenes tour for a group of graduating students. In a touching tribute, these students left their mark by signing a wall of the building, becoming a permanent part of the center’s history.

Originally built in 1916 by William Van Duzer Lawrence, the Ruth Leff Siegel Center has evolved significantly over the years. From housing faculty, to serving as the college infirmary, to becoming “The Pub” – a collaborative space for students – the center is now entering its next chapter. The Siegel Center is set to transform into a dynamic “HUB”: a center for humanity, understanding, and belonging. It will feature new spaces to support and bring together multiple student communities, including Common Ground, the LGBTQIA space, and the Spiritual Space.

Zubatkin is honored to partner with Sarah Lawrence College, Consigli, and DIGSAU architects in planning, designing, and implementing this beloved space for the campus!

The Browning School’s Campaign Co-Chairs celebrated a milestone last week with the Topping Off Ceremony, a time-honored construction tradition that marks the placement of the building’s highest structural element.

The new Upper School will partially open in spring 2025, with full completion by the 2025-2026 school year. Learn more about 337 East 64th Street at browning.edu/expansion.

Last week, our team was thrilled to witness firsthand the progress of construction for the Garden House at Packer Collegiate. We joined Noah Howard, Agata Vetter and our partners from BLDG Works, who provided valuable insights into the innovative use of mass timber.

At the forefront of sustainability, the building employs a state-of-the-art Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) framework. Set to open in fall 2025, this facility will serve as the new home for the Lower School, enhancing Packer’s commitment to providing exceptional educational environments and setting new benchmarks in eco-friendly construction.

The renovation of the Garden area, also scheduled to open this fall, will offer a revitalized space for both play and learning. We are proud to be a part of this community-driven project, advancing the frontier in sustainable building practices alongside a remarkable team.

In its fourth year, the Erica Lindenbaum Tishman Award is presented annually to a person who demonstrates exceptional leadership skills, an interest in mentorship and developing peers, a passion for resolving a particular challenge, empathy towards others, and a commitment to community service. After careful review of many nominations, we are pleased to announce Andrew Bast and Lisa Brands as the recipients of this year’s Award.

Zubatkin, a division of Cumming Group, joined colleagues in supporting innovative design and architecture at this year’s AIANY Honors and Awards Luncheon. Congratulations to Zubatkin collaborator Studio Gang for the Richard Gilder Center for Science, Education, and Innovation, and to Cumming Group’s collaborator Pei Cobb Freed & Partners for the International African American Museum. And a special congrats to Architecture in Media Award Honoree Madame Architect for which our very own Kate Reggev is the historical columnist.

Next week, Julie Geden, Senior Principal at Zubatkin will join Tannenbaum Helpern Construction & Design attorneys Kenneth Block and Hillel Sussman for a session on “Assessing the Default and Termination of a Construction Manager”.

The panel will offer practical advice for owners who are navigating challenges with their construction partner. This will include examining the steps an Owner should consider to avoid default, discussing mitigation options, and reviewing the process for termination if it is deemed necessary.

We are thrilled to share an incredible milestone for the New York Tech community! On March 26th, we celebrated the opening of the newly renovated College of Engineering and Computing Sciences laboratories on NYIT’s New York City campus.

The state-of-the-art laboratories, equipped with advanced benchtop lab instruments and updated life safety systems, will enhance the resources available to advance NYIT’s research programs. The renewed facilities provide a hands-on, innovative experience for students and faculty advancing degrees in the fields of electrical, computer, and electronics engineering.

Zubatkin was proud to partner with NYIT, WJ Regan & Company, and H2M architects + engineers on the planning and delivery of this project. For more details, check out the press release.

Last month, we had the pleasure of hosting an all-female group of professionals for an exclusive hard hat tour of the Studio Museum in Harlem project. Organized by Zubatkin in collaboration with the Women of Cumming Group (WoCC), the tour highlighted some of the incredible work that has been going on behind the scenes to build a new cultural facility in the heart of Harlem.  Delivered as a public-private partnership, the building is designed to express the character of the community, while advancing the institution’s global role in developing innovative and impactful exhibitions and programs.

The Studio Museum holds a profound significance as a premier center for contemporary artists of African descent and a vital cultural institution in the heart of Harlem. Our team at Zubatkin has been a partner to the Museum throughout the planning, design, approvals, and construction of the project.  A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for this unique experience!
