We’re excited to share that our client, the Universal Hip Hop Museum, broke ground on its new 50,000 square feet space last week! The museum will be located in the Bronx in a mixed-use development and is being delivered in partnership with L&M Development Partners, BronxWorks, and the City of New York.  The new museum will provide a space for audiences, artists, and technology to converge, creating unparalleled educational and entertainment experiences around the Hip Hop culture.

A Facilities Conditions Assessment (FCA) can serve as an essential planning tool and is particularly relevant as many institutions have been “resetting” capital investment and deferred maintenance priorities in looking beyond the COVID-19 pandemic.

Zubatkin recently worked with Princeton Theological Seminary and StudioJAED on the development of a comprehensive FCA to review all existing buildings and supporting infrastructure.  The work began with a thorough and qualitative RFP process to identify the right project partner, then involved strategic management of the study to ensure its value for senior leadership and operations/maintenance decision-making.  As a result, the Seminary is currently advancing other campus planning initiatives that will support their vision for the future.

In addition to our work in the not-for-profit sector, Zubatkin has overseen a variety of specialty private development projects. We’re excited to share some images of our recent work with Nuckel Properties, where we managed the completion of The Opus, a new community of luxury apartments in North Arlington, New Jersey.  The apartments feature upscale and modern interiors with views of the Manhattan skyline.

The American Museum of Natural History reports: “A treasure is returning to New York City! The Museum’s Allison and Roberto Mignone Halls of Gems and Minerals are opening on June 12, 2021. A showcase for one of the greatest collections of its kind and an engaging guide to current scientific knowledge about our dynamic planet, the 11,000-square-foot halls will include a gallery of dazzling gems, fabulous new specimens, and a temporary exhibition space, the Melissa and Keith Meister Gallery.

The joyful return of these reimagined halls marks a celebratory moment in the reopening of New York City.

Superblue’s first Experiential Arts Center will debut in Miami this week with invitational previews, to be followed by a formal public opening at the end of April. Located across from the Rubell Museum, the project creates a one-of-a-kind immersive experience.  The inaugural program showcases the work of an impressive roster of world-renowned artists: Es Devlin, James Turrell, and teamLab.

Over the past year, Zubatkin has been working with Superblue to convert a food distribution warehouse into a flexible exhibition space. The Zubatkin team was responsible for managing the planning, design, and construction of the renovations necessary for the base building, as well as overseeing the exhibit development process.  Welcome to Miami, Superblue!

We’re pleased to recognize Kathleen Farewell, PE for having recently received Living Future Accreditation!

The Living Building Challenge, administered by the International Living Future Institute, is an ambitious performance standard that aims to transform “every single act of design and construction” as the most advanced measure of sustainability in the built environment today. Certification can follow a variety of paths – from Zero Carbon, Zero Energy, Core Green Building, LPC Petal – all the way up to full LBC Living Certification.

Kate’s new expertise will further expand Zubatkin’s capabilities in navigating green building and sustainability opportunities for institutional property owners. Congratulations Kate!

Zubatkin is excited to announce the creation of the Erica Lindenbaum Tishman Leadership Award. The annual award will be presented to a person who personifies the values and embodies the spirit that Erica represented every single day, demonstrating exceptional leadership skills, an interest in mentorship and developing peers, a passion for resolving a particular challenge, empathy towards others, and a commitment to community service. The program was developed as a way to honor her life and commemorate her longstanding influence and to foster a culture that aligns with Zubatkin’s values of character and integrity.

We’re very pleased to recognize Larissa Albert as our inaugural award recipient. Larissa has been a key part of the Zubatkin team for over twelve years and leads our Project Controls department. The conference brings together museum colleagues, design and construction professionals, and other consulting partners to discuss strategies and best practices for the successful planning and implementation of museum building projects.

The Jewish Home of Rockleigh’s short-term rehab and aquatic center building continues to make good progress. A time-lapse video of the construction from the past two months can be found here. When completed, the overall project will allow the Jewish Home to expand its services to outpatients and create a better experience for everyone using their rehabilitation programs. We’re honored to be supporting this organization’s important mission.
